Guidelines

Specimen Type: Urine
Collection: Random urine in either a cup or a boric acid urine tube.
Handling Instructions: UW-MT: send to Microbiology Lab HMC: send to HMC Microbiology Lab (test will be forwarded to UW-MT)
Quantity: requested: 1 mL urine
minimum: 0.4 mL urine

Processing: Mix urine well and aliquot 1mL into plastic vial. Refrigerate.

Stability: Refrigerated (preferred) 14 days; Room Temperature 24 hours.

Frozen specimens are acceptable.
