Ordering & Collection

Collection
Collect some stool on the provided collection paper.  DO NOT ALLOW TO COME IN CONTACT WITH TOILET WATER. Open the green end of the collection bottle by twisting and pulling.  Be careful not to tip and spill the liquid contents.  Fill the grooves of the little collection device located on the underside of the green lid.  Replace into collection bottle and close tightly. DO NOT REOPEN.  Discard remaining stool.
 
Note: UW-MT inpatient services can order collection kits by contacting SPS. All other clinics and services order collection kits through hospital stores.
Handling Instructions
Stool must be submitted in Polymedco Fecal Immunochemical (Immunoassay) Test collection bottle.
Do Not Send Stool directly to the Laboratory.

Processing
Check media expiration date before labeling specimen. Cancel expired media as YEXPM.

HMC Instructions:
Place the sample bag in SPS refrigerator, Special Chemistry Bin.  Can be refrigerated but do not freeze.
 
Stability: The sample collected in a collection bottle is stable up to 15 days at room temp, up to 30 days at 2-8°C.
