Useful For: Initial workup for potential solid organ deceased donor transplant recipients.

Test Information: Bloodworks Northwest HLA Placeholder code for initial evaluation of potential recipients for deceased donor transplant. Samples submitted to the HLA/Immunogenetics Laboratory will be tested for HLA Antibody Specificity, HLA Class I & II (A,B,C,DR,DQ,DP ) Typing, and ABO group/Rh type. Includes Bloodworks NW tests 3083-16 (HLA Antibody Specificity), 3084-06 (HLA Class I & II Typing), and 3103-00 (ABO Typing) with potential reflex to Anti-A Titer (3115-00A). Anti-A titer (3115-00A) is performed on group B kidney recipients to determine eligibility to receive group A2/A2B kidneys.

Additional Ordering Guidance: Do not order this test for transplant workups involving a living donor. Refer to alternate placeholders HLA Living Donor Initial Screen, Recipient (Sendout) [RLDSCR] or HLA Living Donor Initial Screen, Donor (Sendout) [RLDSCD].

        • Bloodworks NW HLA Test: 0000-00HI
        • Interfaced: Yes [Interface: 603; Worksheet: UBWHLA/HBWHLA/FBWHLA or other location-specific worksheet group]
        • Send sample(s) with a copy of the Bloodworks Northwest HLA Requisition or the EPIC requisition (must indicate the test or panel to be ordered at Bloodworks NW).
        • Package sample(s) with the associated requisition in a biohazard bag (one patient per bag). Orders received with multiple patient samples/requisitions in the same biohazard bag will be rejected by Bloodworks NW.
        • Send routine samples via scheduled DLMP Courier pickups or Delivery Express according to the site’s preferred transportation method.
        • STAT orders should be sent to Bloodworks Northwest as received.* Depending on the courier schedule, it may be necessary to individually batch a STAT order and/or call Delivery Express for pickup.
          • *STAT orders for this test are rare and require the provider to request approval from the HLA Lab. If approval is obtained, the HLA Lead Technical Coordinator will contact CSS to request expedited transport of a sample. CSS will create an HC1 task for SPS. If this is not done, orders should be considered routine.
