Hb F is eluted from the column resin by a programmed buffer gradient of increasing ionic strength.
Hb F level is useful for following hydroxyurea therapy for sickle cell patients.
Hb F measurement is best interpreted in conjunction with other testing in the Thalassemia Reflexive Panel, red cell indices, patient demographics and other clinical factors.
