Glucose 2 Hour Post Dose

General Information

Lab Name
Glucose 2 Hr. Post Dose
Lab Code
GLUPP2
Epic Name
2h Glucose Tol Test, Non-Pregnant
Description
This test can be ordered as the 2-hour time point in the 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test recommended by the ADA for non-OB patients or as a 2-hour postprandial screen. For use as a part of the 2-h tolerance series, first a fasting glucose (GLUF) should be drawn; then the patient should drink 75 g glucola, and after two hours have a specimen drawn for GLUPP2. A 2-hr blood glucose concentration equal to or greater than 200 mg/dL is consistent with a diagnosis of diabetes. Diabetes Care 2012 35: S11-S63
