Rapid Flu, RSV, SARS-CoV-2 PCR w/ Extended PCR Reflex

Specimen requirements:

UWMC-ML, UWMC-NW, and HMC:

• Acceptable specimens: Flocked nasopharyngeal (NP) swabs or nasal swabs collected in UTM (Universal Transport Medium) or VTM (Viral Transport Medium).

Fred Hutch:

• Acceptable specimen: Flocked nasopharyngeal (NP) swab collected in UTM (Universal Transport Medium) or VTM (Viral Transport Medium).

Store specimen at 2 - 8 °C.

UWMC-NW: Deliver to UA Bench upon receipt – STAT

UWMC-Montlake: Deliver to Microbiology in NW177

HMC: Deliver to Microbiology Receiving in GWH-47

Fred Hutch: Deliver to Main Lab drop off window at G1-500 - STAT. Testing is performed upon receipt 6 am to 9 pm M-F and 7:30 am to 4:30 pm S/S/holidays. The laboratory has the capacity for a maximum of 8 rapid tests (FABRCV + NCVRPD) every hour. Tests will be run in the order of receipt only, tests remaining at the end of each shift will be reordered under NCVQLT for transport to UW Virology.

Stability: Specimen in UTM/VTM is stable for up to 24 hours when stored at room temperature or for up to 7 days when stored at 2 - 8°C.
