BRCA1 & BRCA2 testing is useful for the evaluation of patients who are suspected to have hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. Testing is performed using next-generation sequencing to detect most mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2. The assay completely sequences all exons of these genes AND detects large deletions, duplications and mosaicism.
For patients with a suspected hereditary cancer syndrome, including hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, see BROCA Cancer Risk Panel [BROCA].
