Guidelines

Specimen Type: FFPE, Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded Tissue, Solid Tumor
Collection: Send (a) FFPE slides, OR (b) FFPE tissue block, OR (c) fresh solid tumor:

(a) Instructions for slide specimens: 1 slide at 4-micron thickness stained with hematoxylin-and-eosin AND4 unstained, baked, charged slides at 4-micron thickness (a minimum of two slides is required)Note: Sections should contain as much tumor tissue as possible.

(b) Instructions for tissue block specimen: Provide complete tissue block containing tumor tissue. If there is more than one tissue block, please provide the block that has the greatest amount of tumor tissue. Tissue block will be returned at completion of testing.

Handling Instructions: Keep specimen at room temperature. A request form must accompany each specimen (see the Cytogenetics and Genomics Laboratory's website above).

Processing: Hold slides or tissue blocks at room temperature. SPS, do not log. Since this test is often ordered with our Genetics test for EGFR Mutations, place sample and requisition in Genetics Lab bucket at UW-MT and notify Genetics at 206-598-6429.
